Assemblages
Assemblages provide opportunity for meditation on uniqueness and repetition. Washing and sanding the boards. Rolling slabs. Building forms, the same forms again and again: squares, circles, rectangles, triangles. Each form unique, a little off in some way or another. In these imperfections reside character. Acrylics on the inside of each form bring out the rough surfaces, nicks and scratches in the ceramic; the oils used on the outside along with metallic pigments offer a luster to what appears matte at first glance.
Materials: low fire clay, oil and acrylic paint, metallic pigment, found wood
